They refer to this packet as BOB. Bob is worth lots of points and is a big part of their grade. We do much of it in Class. However they are expected to take it home to have it signed by parents so the parents can see what they are doing in class and have more input. This Packet is Due on Friday Morning first thing or it is considered late( Late packets only get 1/2 credit and unsigned packets lose 10% of the points)
Tuesday: We will work on Writing, BOB, Verbs, Poetry and Compare and contrast in Class
Wednesday: We will work on the same as Tuesday
Thursday: We will work on the same however please remind your student that he/she has a language Arts quiz and a Spelling quiz and a Language Arts packet due on Friday. The quiz is over the last weeks' vocabulary and activities we have done in class as well as Verbs.

Language Arts and Science Assignments

Good Morning,

In Language Arts we read the King Of Mazy May. On pg 33 comprehension questions numbers 1,3,4,6,7 in recalling and interpreting parts and #4 in the understanding conflicts part. You will also have a quiz on the helping/linking verbs on Thursday along with spelling test.

Science assignments for this week you need to have some research done on your catapult projects so that we may begin the research paper process. Also by Friday, I need a picture of materials for your catapult and/or a reciept of materials that you bought. Remember, you can e-mail the picture to me, bring it in, or show me on your camera. (I would suggest printing it off or e-mail because I do not want cameras getting taken.) This is due by Friday.

See ya,
Mrs. Lippert

Have a good rest of the day,
Mrs. Lippert
5th Grade Language Arts and Social Studies
Good Morning,

Language arts: Today we worked on writing explanation paragraphs, worked on our Language Packets, Watched school house rock on nouns.

Social Studies: Watching "Its a wonderful life" depicting how things looked and were in the 1930's and 1940's era. Map timings, students get 10 minutes to copy down as many states as they can with the capitals.

Homework: Some students need to be studying for a states quiz tomorrow Wed. These students know who they are so ask your student if they need to study. See yesterdays blog for which states.
Each week we put together a Language Arts Packet which consists of : a Seeing R.E.D. grammer sheet, a prefix/suffix sheet, a vocabulary sheet, a spelling sheet and a reading response sheet. The students work on these during class time. They do need to be signed by a parent to just let us know that they have shown you what they are doing in class. These must be turned in by Friday at 8 a.m. or they are late. No parent signature marks off 10%, Turning it in late gets them half credit. These Packets (The students refer to them as BOB) are worth a lot of points.

Thanks and enjoy your day,
Rosemary DiVittore

No assignments that need handed in for tomorrow January 14th. However, we will be discussing data analysis and you do need your data and it would be great if you had mean, median, mode, and range for your data figured. Finally, get your graphs done. For those of you reading, the science fair project is due on Monday  February 1, 2010 and the local science fair will be held in the auxillary gymnasium at Kitzmiller on February 8, 2010. See you there.
